RespiCOz is a portable mainstream capnograph. A small NDIR (non-dispersive infrared) CO₂ sensor sits directly on the airway adapter at the patient’s breathing circuit. Origin story

The idea for RespiCOz came in 2021, while founder Krunal Prajapati was building ventilators for COVID-19 patients. Early field research found that around three in five Indian medical setups lacked a capnograph. The root causes were affordability, accessibility and awareness, and most available devices were designed for developed-market hospitals.

The team validated hand-drawn concepts with 20 to 30 doctors, then built and tested prototypes with support from government grants and incubators, under a hospital medical ethics committee. The first prototype was tested on 2 March 2022. After several failed iterations and near-weekly testing, the final design earned CDSCO approval and a granted patent, and went on to be used across more than 250 hospitals.
